To enjoy lunch or dinner at the home of chef and director Alexis Alvarez Armas.
South of Havana is San José de las Lajas, a small picturesque village where time seems to have been stopped. Here, in a sweet and modest house with a wild tropical garden, artist, chef and film art director Alexis Alvarez Armas lives and kitchen with her octogenarian mother and elegant. Alexis spends most of his time in their colorful traditional-style cuisine that begins inside the house and continues on the patio. Patio also has a swimming pool in miniature, bright murals by the chef himself and the table in which Alexis together his friends for meals multistep. These lunches are a sort of legend in the bohemian circle of Havana. Alexis prepares food that is unlike anything you've tried in Cuba. Vibrant flavors and spices brought from his travels, with flavor combinations that only he can create. "For me, each menu is a materialization of my emotions," he says.
